With Summer’s course being halfway run, and yesterday having been National Book Lover’s Day(!), I figured it was good timing to share some of my recent favourite reads for all ages.
Check ‘em out, hit up your local library or book store, and enjoy the rest of your Summer!

“Today” by Julie Morstad
Kids
Lovely and colourful pictures in a thoughtful, fun, inquisitive journey exploring all the adventures that one day can hold.
*
“Super Heroes Have Friends Too” by DC Comics
Kids
Pretty self-explanatory and extremely fun for geeky parents.
*
“Circe” by Madeline Miller
Adults
When I put a hold on this book at the library in the spring I was 136th on the wait list. And it was sooooo worth the wait. It helped that I had just studied Homer’s Odyssey for a youth performance and was very familiar with a lot of the background for the characters, but I think it’s accessible even if you haven’t studied Greek Mythology since elementary school. A book about larger than life gods and titans, it definitely touched me in a subtle, sincere and human way.
*
“The House In The Night” by Susan Swanson & Beth Krommes
Kids/ Babies
Gorgeous illustrations in black, grey and gold. Simple words about love, home and belonging.
*
“Galapagos” by Kurt Vonnegut
Adults
Obviously we can’t not include our main man here. This is probably my favourite of his to read on a beach. But hey they’re all good.
*
“Marge In Charge” by Isla Fisher
Kids
Yes, the actor Isla Fisher. This is a series that my 4 year old is totally nuts for, about a zany babysitter and her creative babysitting methods. Fun characters and really fun to read out loud.
