LML is seeking young writers, visual artists, performers and designers to take part in “Vancouver’s Superhero” – a multi-disciplinary, collaborative workshop series for youth interested in imagining unique new superheroes inspired by their own local communities.
Open to any youth aged 14-19 living in the Lower Mainland. Project facilitators: Emily Nguyen and Matt Clarke.
The 6 sessions will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm starting on October 21st, going until December 2nd. Sessions will initially take place on Zoom, with the option to meet in person at later sessions based on Provincial health and safety recommendations.
Youth will receive an honorarium for their participation, as well as some allowance for materials.
The goals of this workshop series are to use the framework of superheroes to enable emerging artists to connect creatively about themes like identity, obstacles, power and principles as they relate to their own communities, and to have fun as we play in our own incredible artistic multiverses!
