Orange shirt day is a call to action. A day to pause, reflect, honour, uphold, and to do the work. This is a day to listen and to learn from those that have previously been silenced. We create on the traditional, unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, which includes the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. For generations, these and other Indigenous Peoples across Canada have endured systemic oppression and displacement, as well as the devastating legacy of residential schools. We owe it to those who survived, and to the generations who continue to carry these wounds, to acknowledge this and to inform our art, our theatre practices, and how we create. This day isn't about remembrance —it’s about education, understanding, learning, and unlearning. If you have the means, consider supporting Indigenous-led organizations and non-profits that continue the work of healing and advocacy.
